Why is the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) being Important to do?
What is Water Treatment Plant?

What is Water Treatment Plant?

A Water Treatment Plant is a method of improving the physical, chemical, & biological quality of impure or raw water by removing available impurities like color, turbidity, algae, and other microorganisms for making the water suitable for drinking purposes without affecting our environment. Coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection are some basic water treatment processes and protect human beings from various harmful diseases caused by drinking impure water.

Both river & groundwater from local wells is blended in Water Treatment Plant and then moved towards the treatment process by performing primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment for achieving the water quality standards that are set by the government.

Why is the Water Treatment being Important to do?

The quality and quantity of water are decreasing rapidly, and all living things require clean, uncontaminated water as their basic requirement. According to a report, a person can hardly survive without drinking pure water and around 1.1 million people fall ill every year due to the consumption of untreated water.

Water treatment enhances the quality of water and makes it suitable for drinking, cooking, and other various purposes according to the requirement. It removes harmful impurities that caused many kinds of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, polio, etc, So it’s important to invest in water treatment solutions that are perfect for providing delicious, crystal-clear water.

Technologies used in Water Treatment

There are multiple types of technologies that are used in water treatment such as Reverse Osmosis (RO), Water Softener, Demineralization (DM), Ultrafiltration (UF), & Nanofiltration (NF), etc.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant: Reverse osmosis uses a pressure-driven membrane separation technology with an operating pressure of 1.5–12 MPa and a cut-off limit of 0.1–1 nm and can eliminate all suspended solids, dissolved matters, and colloid from the liquid mixture. It separates ions, unwanted molecules, and larger particles from industrial, commercial, & residential wastewater for making them able to use for drinking.

Water Softener Plant: Water Softener is an effective water treatment technology that is used for processing hard water and making it usable, as hard water contains minerals like calcium, iron, and magnesium that cause the water to be hard that is not suitable to use as drinking. A water softener plant removes both calcium & magnesium from hard water with the flow of sodium by using the ion exchange and precipitation methods.

Demineralization (DM) Plant: Demineralization Plant is an advanced water treatment technology that is backed with the latest ion exchange technology for effectively removing mineral salts including cations and anions from water and making the water suitable to drink. This technology is also known as Deionized Water System and Demineralizer.

Ultrafiltration (UF) Plant: Ultrafiltration Plant offer a tangential flow pressure-driven filtration process that helps these plants to efficiently remove harmful suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, and viruses from water by using membranes with pore size between 1-100nm.

Nanofiltration (NF) Plant: Nanofiltration is one of the latest water treatment technology and can separate fluids and ions from water with a pore size of 1-10 nm. Nanofiltration Plant is extremely useful in the fractionation and selective removal of solutes from complex process streams and surpasses reverse osmosis (RO) in many applications due to its lower energy consumption and higher flux rates.
